Stanley Park
To really get away from it all, try a leisurely stroll through leafy Stanley Park, Blackpool's award-winning horticultural and wildlife treasure. Spot the cute, inquisitive squirrels, take in the showpiece Italian Gardens or hire a boat and float away, lazy summer afternoons beside the swans on Stanley Park's boating lake.
Golfers will also find an extensive course at the park, there's crown green bowling, walks at the nearby nature reserve Marton Mere, and a host of family attractions at this popular yet peaceful retreat.
Close by is the resort's multipurpose sports centre in Stanley Park and the small but perfectly formed Model Village and Gardens. This marvel in miniature even comes complete with Blackpool trams!
Stanley Park is the jewel of Blackpool's crown and offers 260 acres of scenic beauty and achitectural delight. Designed in 1922 by Thomas H Mawson and offically opened in 1926, the park hosts an impressive art deco cafe building, original boathouses, bandstand, cocker memorial tower and beautiful landscape gardens and woodland areas.
The park is a beautiful example of a Victorian park and as such it its national importance was recognised and it was granted a Grade II* Listing. Currently some of the historic gardens are under going refurbishment to bring them back to their former glory.
The park is designed around a central Italian garden and the main paths radiate out from this. The park is divided into four main areas: The Eastern quarter, The Northern quarter, The Western quarter and the Southern quarter.
